CHUBBUCK — For four days, more than 3,500 hungry locals quietly came and ate at Red Robin near the Pine Ridge Mall. The staff needed training and the chain was willing to give out more than a few complimentary meals to provide it.
“You can only train with no customers in the building for so long,” said general manager Kerry Aughenbaugh.
The restaurant officially opens for business June 13.
Those who got to preview the restaurant’s offerings were greeted with bottomless fries, gourmet burgers and bubbly sodas.
Most, but not all, options on the regular menu were available to the previewing customers who signed up online and set a reservation. These customers were allowed to order what they wanted for free. Aughenbaugh estimates the training exercise served between 3,500 and 4,000 locals.
The sneak peak gave many a look into what the Americana-themed food joint will have to offer.
Starting June 13, Red Robin will be open from 11 a.m. to 10 p.m. Sunday through Thursday. It closes at 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday. With seating for about 189 people, the restaurant known for its bottomless fries and craft burgers will employ about 100 locals an both a full- and part-time basis.
Some of Red Robin’s most popular menu items include their Red Robin’s Finest Burgers.
While Red Robin is known for its high-quality comfort food, options are also available for anyone with the top eight most common allergies, including customers with a gluten intolerance.
“We have an allergen menu online,” Aughenbaugh said. “Or if you didn’t have a chance to check it out before hand we can bring out an iPad and you can see what we have to offer.”
Aughenbaugh has been with Red Robin for about 19 years, working his way up from a server to the Chubbuck location’s general manager. When asked what brought the popular restaurant to Chubbuck in the first place, Aughenbaugh referenced the buzz that already existed in the community.
“The market is growing in Idaho,” Aughenbaugh said. “It is just a growing state. The restaurants we had were successful and people really liked it so opening here was just a natural progression.”
Red Robin is located at 4021 Pole Line Road in Chubbuck.
