Gov. C.L. “Butch” Otter has appointed Doug Brown of Garden City, Randy’L Teton of Fort Hall and Georgia Dimick of Oakley as members of Serve Idaho, the Governor’s Commission on Service and Volunteerism.

“Our commissioners bring a wealth of knowledge and energy to the commission as well as first-hand knowledge of the benefits and rewards of service in our communities.” said Renee Bade, project coordinator for Serve Idaho.

Idaho currently ranks third nationally for volunteerism with more than 425,000 people volunteering their time.

Brown recently retired after a 27 year career in juvenile justice and began volunteering for the Special Olympics World Winter Games and as a docent at the World Center for Birds of Prey. In 2011, he joined the board of the Stage Coach Theater and currently serves as its chairman. Brown also volunteers at the Family Services Center at Gowen Field and serves as the treasurer on the board of the Guard and Reserve Family Support Fund.

Teton, who serves as the Shoshone-Bannock Tribes public affairs manager, serves on various local committees and boards including the Blackfoot Chamber of Commerce, the Pocatello Rotary, the Fort Hall Voters Education committee, the Tribal Joint Marketing Committee, the Pioneer Country Travel Council board and the Economic Development Committee. She is nationally known as the model for the Sacajawea golden dollar coin.

Dimick works at College of Southern Idaho as manager of the Senior Corps program, whose volunteers contribute approximately 140,000 hours of service in south central Idaho each year. She is pursuing a master’s degree in organizational learning and performance from Idaho State University.

Serve Idaho, a division of the Idaho Department of Labor, encourages voluntary public service and volunteerism throughout the state. The Serve Idaho Commission is funded in part by the Corporation for National and Community Service and the Idaho Department of Labor.
